XPR System (Cross(X)-linked Polyethylene Recycled System)

The resource circulation system
that decomposes crosslinking of
XLPE and transform it into recycled PE

products

Crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE) is used for versatile applications such as insulation of power cables, hot water and central heating piping, etc. XLPE, however, cannot be easily returned to its non-crosslinked state for reuse, and discarded scrap XLPE is incinerated or goes to landfill.

OOHASHI Co., Ltd. (OOHASHI) has invented XPR System™, technologies physically and chemically decomposing crosslinking of XLPE, and returning to the state close to original polyethylene (PE) with retaining the technical properties of PE (plasticization.)

OOHASHI uses PE recycled through XPR System™ as a part of raw material of Repy Board®, rugged and durable ground protection mat manufactured by OOHASHI, to find that adding recycled PE as raw material enhances physical properties of Repy Board® in particular thermal resistance. The recycled PE has also been successfully used as a part of raw material of plastic pallets by injection molding.

XPR System™ is an epoch-making system to transform discarded scrap XLPE, industrial waste of no commercial value, into valuable material, which significantly contributes to achievement of SDGs.
