クロスプロシステム

Cross (X)-linked Polyethylene Recycled System
What is the XPR System?
This resource recycling system manufactures raw materials and products by breaking down the crosslinks in cross-linked polyethylene (plasticization) to create new polyethylene.
Cross-linked polyethylene is widely used in power cables and hot water pipes, but it is difficult to recycle and has traditionally been treated as fuel or industrial waste.
Ohashi Co., Ltd. was selected for the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry’s “Sapioin (Strategic Core Technology Advancement Support Project)” and, together with Yamagata University and partner companies, developed the “XPR System,” which cuts the crosslinks in cross-linked polyethylene and restores it to its original state.
This technology allows recycled materials to be used in our “Repy Board” product, improving its heat resistance.
The “XPR System” does not emit CO2 and qualifies for the government’s “Project to Promote the Introduction of Advanced Resource Recycling Equipment for Building a Carbon-Free Society.” Furthermore, small and medium-sized businesses may be eligible for subsidies covering half of the installation costs.
Please feel free to contact us regarding pellet sales and equipment installation.
In May 2024, it was registered with NETIS (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism’s New Technology Information System).
[Registration number KT-240049-A] Civil engineering and construction materials series using the XPR system (Cross Pro System) .

XPRシステムのできること

We will use our cultivated technology to repurpose limited resources.

Cross-linked polyethylene is widely used in power cables, hot water supply pipes, etc.
power cables
fuel filler pipe
Foam products
Special films, etc.

By changing the shape or use, the material can be reused within the company or group companies, which not only contributes to resource recycling but also has a wide range of business applications.
Recycling into materials used in-house
Plastic pallets, etc.
Recycling of materials within the group and to related industries
Protective materials and resin flooring at work sites and factories
Recycling into raw materials for new products
Extruded foam products/Light truck mats/Resin floor boards, etc.

XPRシステムの概要

Cross-linked polyethylene collected as industrial waste
The molecules in chain polymers are tightly bonded together like bridges.
Recycling of cross-linked polyethylene
Pellets are produced using a manufacturing machine that uses the XPR system.
The development of the manufacturing machine was funded by a subsidy from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (Sapoin), and we have obtained patents No. 6735885, “Method for regenerating polymer compounds,” and No. 7281860, “Method for producing polymer compounds.”
Cross-linked polyethylene pellets completed
The XPR system produces pellets of decrosslinked polyethylene (plasticized PE).

XPRシステムの戦略と可能性

The XPR system not only contributes to resource recycling and the creation of a decarbonized society, but also creates new materials that could not be created through chemical synthesis.
MateriaAluminization creates environmental businesses, and new functions further enhance value.

XPRシステムによる脱炭素効果

Recycling resources reduces CO2 emissions and contributes to decarbonization.
This technology can reduce CO2 emissions by 87% and also contribute to carbon credits.

Cross-linked high density polyethylene (XHS)
Cross-linked high-density polyethylene is polyethylene that has been mixed with peroxides or silane coupling agents to bond the HDPE (high-density polyethylene) molecules together. It is often used in hot water pipes and other applications because it maintains its flexibility and has improved heat resistance.
XHS plasticized with XPR system
Repy pellet XHS (plasticized PE) is produced
This Repy Pellet XHS has been confirmed to have an increase in elongational viscosity that is not seen in regular HDPE.
A new physical property was discovered: the presence of long chain branches.
Uniaxial extensional viscosity measurement of Repy Pellet (XHS)
(Measured by Yamagata University Faculty of Engineering)
Furthermore, cross-linked high density PP (XPP) is currently under research and development.
We are currently looking for companies to cooperate in joint development.

XPRシステムの取組事例

Various companies are contributing to resource recycling and building a decarbonized society, and valuing limited resources.

01Sekisui House, Ltd.

Sekisui House recycles some of the waste water and hot water supplies generated at construction sites to create flooring and other materials, which are then used in construction site wells.

02Maezawa Supply Industry Co., Ltd.

We use cross-linked polyethylene from hot water pipe remnants to manufacture pallets for use in our warehouse and for delivery and maintenance.

03SWCC Co., Ltd.

We make flooring boards using cross-linked polyethylene recycled from discarded electric wires and use them as a protective material to prevent weeds within the factory.
